Our Story
October 2023 – Making History
We made headlines as the UK’s first-ever tattoo convention held inside a working prison. Over 100 incredibly talented tattoo artists transformed Shrewsbury Prison’s historic cells into buzzing studios, creating an unforgettable fusion of ink and atmosphere. It was bold, immersive — and the start of something truly special.
September 2024 – Back by Demand
You asked for more, and we delivered. In our second year, we welcomed even more outstanding artists from Canada, Italy, the USA, and across the UK. We expanded the experience with live graffiti art, a magician, live music, and a host of unique and wonderful traders. The prison walls were alive with creativity — and the energy was electric.
June 2025 – A Community Returns
Year three marked something extraordinary: a growing family of artists, performers, traders, and returning visitors. Some artists joined us for the third year in a row, while new names added fresh energy to the lineup. Guests returned to once again get tattooed inside the cells, proving that Locked Up isn’t just an event — it’s an experience people want to relive.
